Science Project What is the effect of reducing sleep on perception and reacting time? Cedric Brazle Ms. Hood Stanton College Prep
Research Question What is the effect of reducing sleep on perception and reacting time?
Controlled Variables The variables that are staying the same are: • The tests that are conducted on the individuals like: catching, reading, standing, and balance. • The amount of tests that are conducted
Variables • Independent variable: Perception and Reaction Time • Dependent variable: Measuring the amount of mistakes made by the individual. Also measuring amount energy from start to finish.
Materials & Procedures • Materials: Ball Stop Watch Jump Rope Clock List of Reading Words Diagram of colors • The project of will consist of a few individual, a different ages. The individuals will go through a series of tests. Every hour in a 1 day process, the tests will be conducted continuously. Studies show that people can die from less sleep because of cardiovascular disease and people can also die from too much sleep from non-cardiovascular disease. Studies also show that • Include multiple trials/repetition in your procedures (at least 3) • Appoint several individuals that the test will be conducted on. • Use your ball to throw back and forth about 20 times and count the amount dropped and the amount caught. Next, Use the jump rope to make the individuals jump rope for about 10 minutes measure the amount of times the cease to jump rope. • After an hour repeat the step • Repeat the third state continuously.
