Question Will tap , rain , or distilled water grow plants best?
Research Tap water contains some chemicals and minerals.Rain water has not had any chemicals or minerals removed.Distilled water has been purified and lacks chemicals and minerals.
Hypothesis I think this will happen I think rain water will grow plants best.
Plan My plan is to plant nine pinto bean plants and water them with the same amount of tap, rain, and distilled water. I will record the growth of all nine and make a bar graph of the tallest of each.
Experiment I planted nine pinto beans in red cups at the same depth in the soil using a ruler. I gave each one a ½ cup of water. (3 tap, 3 rain, 3 distilled)
Experiment Part 2 Day 2 – No water Day 3 – ¼ cup of water in each Day 4 – No water Day 5 – First sprout observed - (Tap) Day 6 – Two sprouts of each observed Day 7 – All nine sprouted Day 8 – No water Day 9 – No water Day 10- ¼ cup of water in each Day 11- Final measurement
Data Inches
Conclusion My hypothesis wasn’t entirely correct. Tap and rain grew best, but distilled wasn’t far behind. My experiment showed that as long as plants get water, they will grow.
