  2. When is the Writing Test? *State mandated writing test for fifth grade is on Wednesday, March 5th. • Students will have 120 minutes • Students will be given one of the three writing genres: 1. Narrative 2. Persuasive 3. Informational • Students must read & comprehend the prompt independently • Writing scores are part of students’ cumulative folders

  3. How the Writing Test is Graded: FOUR COMPONENTS: • Ideas (counts double) • Organization • Style • Conventions (grammar)

  4. Current Writing Project An Adventure Students must complete for all writing projects: • Fill out a graphic organizer • Create a rough draft • Publish a final draft (WTL) • Reference the prompt in their introduction/conclusion using key word(s) • Select five words within essay to make more vivid or expressive
