EP 230 Survey of Special Needs By Jeri McElwee, MA SpEd 2010
Allow me to introduce myself:My name is Jeri McElwee. Email: JMcElwee@kaplan.edu Phone: 918-857-7784 AIM : ProfMcElwee Our agenda for tonight’s seminar is to discuss the course objectives and expectations, as well as your understanding of the paraprofessional role in addressing special needs. We will start shortly. Feel free to chat while you wait for class to begin.
Let’s talk a few basics Share a little about yourself
Seminars The seminars are the place where you will find out all the information for the projects. You will also have a great opportunity to learn more about the topic of the week from me. You can interact with other students and have more opportunity to learn for each other. If you miss a live seminar, you must complete the seminar option 2 by the end of the week.
Discussion Rubric Critical Thinking Participation: Generating Learning within the community Grammar and Mechanics Late posts in the threaded discussion greatly diminish the dialogue of class discussions and add little to the community of inquiry if they are posted well after other students are contributing. Therefore, the penalty for late discussion posts can be up to 25% off of your grade.
Unacceptable post • “Hi Mary, I like your post.” • “I would totally agree with you.” • “Great post.” • “OMG! U r gr8!” • “ithot you’re anserwazawsum.”
