  2. All too often we are giving young people cut flowers when we should be teaching them to grow their own plants.     ~ John W. Gardner Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter

  3. Long-Term Goal • To move away from the traditional wayof teaching and introduce the latest trend in teaching using the tools and technologies of the 21st century. • To prepare and equip the students with the tools which help them to research the information effectively using Urdu language. Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter

  4. Short-Term Goals • Enhance the student’s learning capability by encouraging them to work in groups and present their ideas through mutual coordination. • Decline the use of direct instructions to students and utilize their inner curiosity to bring out their potential by giving them only relevant instructions and encouraging them to find information on their own. • Changing the strategy of asking questions so that to enhance “Critical Thinking” and use Urdu as a standard language of communication during the lesson. Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter

  5. Instructional Strategies • I will change my questioning techniques so that it requires students not only to give answer but also how they think it is correct. This will enhance their decision making capability. • As a part of group discussions, I will take the answer of one student and let the other student tell whether its correct or not. This will let students understand each others perspective. • I will let students work in group in exercises like Story writing and comprehension. • Give them assignments that require them the use of internet to research information so that their capability to search information increases. Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter

  6. Challenges • Lecture time might not be sufficient to complete group tasks as it requires more time. • Initial working is necessary to prepare lessons that foster critical thinking. • Internet might not be available to search information or innovative presentations for students. • As most of the information on the internet is available in English language, it might be necessary to either translate it to Urdu or create it from scratch that require time and effort. Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter

  7. Solutions • Periods can be club to provide time for group lessons. Also, any 1 period per week can be designated to group lesson so it will be easier to allocate time. • Teachers have to dedicate some time to prepare their lecture according to this new paradigm i.e. 21st century learning. • School should provide internet facility to teachers and students so that they can search the information needed. • Translation from English to Urdu can be done by teachers and typed by office assistants as most of the Urdu teachers are not proficient in Urdu word processors. 12. Conclusion • As the 21st century changes every aspect of our life, teaching is no exception. Teachers should be able to make relevant and useful choices about when and how to teach , and whether or not students are making progress toward their personal demonstration of accomplishment. Rethinking what we teach must come before we can rethink how we teach. Saba Naz - Jr. B Section, TCS PAF Chapter
