“The revision document makes clear that the NHS is expected to deliver against the NHS Operating Framework for 2010/11 (as published in December 2009) in all areas not explicitly mentioned”

8. Wider context: Public Health White Paper White Paper on Public Health due to be published later in 2010
It will set out a cross-government strategy to public health and detailed plans for the creation of the new Public Health Service (PHS)
PHS will streamline existing health protection and health improvement functions with an emphasis on providing the evidence on what works and enabling people, families and communities to take responsibility for their own health with the right information and support
Directors of Public Health will be based in local authorities, jointly appointed with the PHS, designing and commissioning local health improvement solutions with a ring-fenced, protected budget
