The history of Macau/Macao is very long, due to there are so many religious events happening in Macau over the long years. 1: Before the Portuguese came, it belonged to the Qing Dynasty, which the main religions are Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism Due to Macau belongs to China, so almost all of them followed their ancestors’ ways. 6. 2: After the Peking Law, Macau was taken over by Portugal due to HK was taken over by the Britain empire in the same time that they came( 16TH Century). Then it began the road to foreign religion, which Roman Catholic began to rise in Macau due to Portugal’s main religion is Roman Catholic Continuing……

  16. “They do not respect the religion like in the old days.” One old interviewee said,” They do not respect the gods like their ancestors; they just say the oath of the gods and go along without respecting them.” He also said that in the present day, if god was on land, he will personally banish them himself. 17. 1. I am a carefree person, I do not care about this religion and I certainly do not want to know about its history in Macau or in HKSAR. • 2.Even if my school is a Taoism School, I do not want to know or learn about it, they are quite boring and they only talk about Confucius, which only involves history, which is only spoken in China History. • 3. Since the Law didn’t forbid us to not choose a religion, so I would go this way as well without any regret or remorse to think or to do. But I still hate this religion because even though I study in a Taoism school in HK, I do not like the culture and its traditions • 4. No, because if it is Taoism or Buddhism, they have to ring a lot of annoying bells or speak a lot of unknown and loud languages; even though that Christian is much better, they still cause a lot of chaos on the streets with their loudspeakers. An interview with an anti-Taoism

  18. Similarities : • All religion came from China, Portugal and America • The laws for religious events and choice of religion are on the same principle- the Diocese of Macau and the treaty of the Special Administrative Region • There are many religious- themed or related activities, arguments and treaties in these two locations. • The two regions’ governments both respected religion with great passion The similarities and differences of religion between MACAU and HKSAR

Differences • Since Macau is the first city that started religion such as Protestantism Christian and Roman Catholic, so there are more different churches and cemeteries in Macau than Hong Kong that stored information of the history of religion. • The graves of the most famous people in religious history are most buried in Macau because according to history, Macau is also the “City of God”, which has a long line of the word religion behind it, in which that Hong Kong has no history of religion apart from Buddhism
