Sacrifice Rom 12:1 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” (NKJ).
Romans 12:1 • Does not so much persuade as it defines what is service and sacrifice: • To be an acceptable living sacrifice, the godly Mind of man must lead his Body.
When do sacrifices fail? • Not performed according to God’s will • Made by rote or habit, not driven by the inward man • Not accompanied by a Godly life • The offering is not really a sacrifice
When does sacrifice succeed? • When the mind, spirit, reason are fully engaged • When the sacrifice is according to God’s will • When the sacrifice really costs something • When the sacrifice is part of a Godly life
What constitutes sacrifice? • Fruit of the lips • Doing good; sharing • Supporting gospel preaching • Worldly reputation, esteem • Convenient peace; accommodation • Time
