Description • Pandas are a white and black bear. • They have typical bear body type. • Black fur on ears, eye patches, muzzle, legs, and shoulders.
Size of an American Black Bear. • Diet: 99% Bamboo, grasses, and small rodents or musk deer fawns.
1,600 Left in the wild. • It’s not known how long there life span is in the wild. • They can be as old as 35 in captivity. • Mostly solitary animals. • Offspring stay with there mothers for up to three years.
Spends 10 to 16 hours a day finding and eating food. • Eats 20 to 40 pounds of food per day. • Gets water out of bamboo, rivers, and streams.
Reproduction • Reach reproductive maturity at about 4-8 years old. • May be reproductive until 20 years old. • Ovulate once a year in the spring. • Takes 95 to 160 days until birth. • There naturally slow birth rate prevents a population from recovering from illegal hunting, habitat loss and other human related mortality.
