  2. I want to welcome you and your child to our class. I am looking forward to working with you this year. In this power point there is some helpful information you and your child will need to know for this up coming school year. Welcome to Floresville North Elementary!

  3. Arrival Building opens at 7:00 School starts at 7:30 After 7:30, your child will be counted as tardy and will need to have a tardy slip from the office. If you wish to enter the building during school hours, you must sign in at the office and get a visitor’s pass. You will need to have your ID with you.

  4. Campus Visitor Policy • Visitors should show photo ID, sign in and leave ID. Visitors without photo ID but who have some other form of ID (Social Security card, government issued card) will be admitted but must be escorted to their desired destination. • Visitors are required to wear visible, dated identification issued by the receptionist. • Visitors must return visitor badge to the office and sign-out. • Visitors IDs are returned to them when they leave.

  5. Departure School ends at 2:45. If you have not picked your child up by 3:00, then they will be sent over to the afterschool care on campus. Please do not enter the school before the bell rings to pick up your child unless you have signed your child out in the office. If your child is a bus rider and you will be picking your child up that day, please send a note in his/her folder letting me know so your child is not put on the bus. If you forget to send a note, please call the office and they will give me the message. If your child does not have a note or you do not call your child will ride his/her regular departure schedule.

  6. Snacks • Your child will have an opportunity to eat a snack provided by you at the end of the day while packing up to leave. • You can provide a healthy snack. • It should not be messy or take long to eat. • Also, your child may bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day.

  7. Bus Riders • Please let me know what bus number your child will be riding. (fill out and turn in tonight) • If you normally pick your child up and decide later in the year you want him/her to ride the bus, please call the bus barn to get the information and then let me know what bus number your child is assigned to. • Bus Barn number: (830)393-5335 or • (830)216-7930.

  8. Attendance After 10:00, your child will be marked absent. If your child has been at the doctor & plan on sending him/her to school, please bring the doctor’s excuse. Students receive awards and recognition for perfect attendance .

  9. Absences When your child returns to school after being out, he/she will need a note or email explaining the absence and the specified dates . You may email your teacher or PEIMS Clerk : korth@fisd.us. If a note is not sent within 3 days after your child returns to school then the absence will be counted as unexcused. Call-ins are not accepted as an excuse. Please send the written documentation with the specified dates. If there is a death in the family a copy of the obituary is required for the absence to be excused. Family event—Pre-approved by principal up to two days excused (see “Absence Pre-Approval Form” in the student handbook)

  10. Breakfast 7:10-7:30 Breakfast in the Classroom The Bengal Breakfast Club is FREE to all students. Any student may decline breakfast. Parents are not allowed to buy breakfast. Do to limited space in the classroom we ask that parents not enter the classroom during breakfast. This begins on the first day. Please drop your child off at the classroom door.

  11. Lunch: 10:55-11:25 Lunch Prices Lunch: Full: $2.65 Reduced: $.40 Milk: $.50 Adult Visitor Lunch: $3.50 If you send a lunch for your child, we encourage you to not send sodas or candy. Since we are teaching our students healthy eating habits, If your child has a food allergy, please bring in a note from the doctor so the cafeteria can accommodate your child.

  12. Parties Birthdays- You may bring cupcakes or single portioned snacks and drinks. They can be homemade or store bought.. Please bring the cupcakes in the morning or no later than 1:30. Please let me know in advance if you plan on bringing in cupcakes so I can make sure to make arrangements. (students with the same birthdays, assemblies or etc.) We will be having three parties this year. They are as followed: • Christmas-Thursday, December 17th • Valentines Day-Friday, February 12th • End of Year-Wednesday, June 1st

  13. Clothing Dress your child in comfortable clothing. (see handbook) Children should wear comfortable shoes for outdoor play and participating in P.E. (Rubber soled shoes and shoes with backs are required for P.E.) Please wear shorts under dresses and skirts. Please dress your child so they may easily dress when they go to the restroom. Please keep an extra set of clothes (shorts/pants, shirt, underwear, and socks) in a ziplock bag in your child’s backpack in case of an accident.

  16. Classroom Rules & Discipline Plan • Weekly behavior will be on the homework sheet in your child’s daily folder. • Please initial/sign the homework page everyday! • If a rule is broken these are the consequences: Yellow-Warning and 5 minutes off recess Orange-Teacher & Student Conference 10 minutes off recess Red-Parent Contact / Miss 15 minutes of recess • During a fire drill if your child is talking they will have an automatic red color for the day. This is for your child safety. • Transportation tags need to be brought to school everyday. Your child will receive a verbal warning if they forgot the first few times. If they continue to forget their tags, they will change their color to yellow. • Citizenship grade will be given each 9 weeks. Students will be rewarded for positive behaviors!

  17. Folders Please check and initial your child’s folder daily! This is a very important form of communication between home and school. The front pocket will be for items to be left at home (graded papers, fliers, etc.) The back pocket will be for items returned to school.(homework, notes, permission slips, etc..) There will also be a pencil pouch located in the front of the folder. Place notes, money and transportation tags in the pencil pouch. Send any notes or money in an envelope labeled with your child’s teacher name, your child’s name, and what the money is for Last there are three sheet protectors that have study guides in them. Please go over them weekly with your child. As they will help throughout the year.

  18. Homework Homework-Homework will be sent home daily. This will consist of math, language arts, science, social studies and any make up work, or extra practice. Home assignments should not take longer then 10 minutes. Family Projects-Family projects will be sent home each month. The purpose of this is to build problem solving skills and descriptive language as you create something fun together.

  19. Medication given to your child must be handled through the school nurse. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to give the medication to the nurse. If your child has been sick at home with a fever, they will need to be fever free for 24 hours without Motrin or Tylenol before they may return to school. Please do not send any medication in their backpack to class. Nurse

  20. Emergency Information It is extremely important you inform the school of any changes to your contact information. In the event of an emergency, your child’s teacher or the school will need to get in contact with you.

  21. Wishing Tree If you would like to donate items to our classroom please pick an apple or two from the “wishing tree” outside my door. Thank You!
