Italy by Hope. Welcome. Italy is a very welcoming place. The people who live there are very friendly. There are many nice places to visit. Many people travel to ancient Rome to see the Coliseum and many famous statues. Many people also go there to see the Vatican.

Welcome Italy is a very welcoming place. The people who live there are very friendly. There are many nice places to visit. Many people travel to ancient Rome to see the Coliseum and many famous statues. Many people also go there to see the Vatican. Italy is a peninsula in Europe. It is shaped like a boot. The Mediterranean Sea, Tyrrhenian Sea and the Adriatic Sea all surround Italy. Sicily and Sardinia are two islands that are part of Italy. There are two mountain chains in Italy- the Alps and the Apennine mountains. Italy is a pretty place to visit.

Government Italy’s government is a republic. There is a president and a prime minister. The president is elected and appoints the prime minister. The president serves a seven year term. History/Culture Italy had kings and queens, but in 1946, Italy didn’t want a king or a queen. When Italy had a kings and a queens Italy had three years of culture. Did you know that Italy became the cultural center of the Western world from the 16th to 17th century.
Sports and games Soccer, skiing, bocce, jump rope, hide and seek, and basketball are popular games in Italy. Many of these games are played in other countries, too.
EconomicsNatural Resources/Products • Italy’s economy is agriculture in the south and industry in the north. • Italy grows most of what it needs. It imports and exports things with other countries. • Italy exports many foods like almonds, figs and olives and grapes. Italy imports oil from Spain. • Italy exports wine, clothing and shoes. • Some natural resources in Italy are Italy’s oak and evergreen trees. Fishing is another natural resource. • In Italy, the currency is the Euro. • Tourism brings a lot of money to Italy.
School • Italian kids start school at the age of six. They finish school when they are 13 years old • School is open six days a week, it starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 12:30 p.m. • Elementary school kids wear black or white smocks to school • During school the kids have a short recess, and some kids eat snacks during the • recess. Lunch is eaten at home after school is over. • Some school kids go to a parks that are called piazza to play with friends after school • There are no dances, yearbooks or sports at school • School is very serious and it can prepare kids for college or to go into industry.
