Seafood Industry Training PackageReview August 2006

Update competencies to latest template Current practices – biosecurity, animal welfare, sustainability, environmental management Integration – across AFISC Training Packages – e.g. using good units from other TPs that meet our needs) Rationalisation – reduce duplication, more efficient packaging of qualifications, incr. flexibility, transferable skills DEST – employability skills, skill sets Work that we must do
Development of much closer links between previously separate areas such aquarium, agriculture (livestock) What’s new and exciting?
Access to land and water Need for skilled employees and skills for the self employed Environmental management systems Biosecurity Animal welfare Demonstrating clean green credentials Complying with new requirements (e.g.CoOL) What are the “hot” areas?
Questions about qualification levels – do we need 6 AQF levels? The demand for higher level learning – > technical skills and related knowledge Responsibility for training being part of “sustainable” business, not a Gov’t obligation Staying up to date, extension– lifelong learning skills Into the Future….
