The project • The Ocean Energy European Research Area Network • Funding from the European Union’s Seventh Programme for research, technological development and demonstration (FP7) • 4 year programme: December 2013 – November 2017 • A network of 16 research and innovation programme funders and managers from 9 EU member states • Ocean energy includes wave and tidal energy, salinity gradient and ocean thermal energy conversion

What we will do • Objective: to coordinate activity between European countries and regions to support research and innovation in the ocean energy sector, by • Promoting information exchange, collaborating with industry and research communities • Creating an inventory of research programmes, scientific and technology mapping, monitoring trends in the sector • Identifying mutual interest, gaps, opportunities for collaboration • Agreeing a shared vision and action plan for joint activities • Mutually supporting joint calls for trans-national projects • Sharing results • Developing a sustainable and growing community for future activities

Joint Call 2014 – Provisional Information • Timeline: • Brokerage event - 2 October 2014 at Ocean Energy Europe 2014 • Call open 23 October • Stage 1 –18 December, Stage 2 –1 April 2015, project start – from 1 October 2015 • Eligibility: • Collaborative projects - minimum 2 partners from 2 different countries • Industry and research organisations, but focus on industry needs • Research, development, testing, demonstration • Wave, tidal, salinity gradient and ocean thermal • Evaluation: • Independent evaluators • Criteria - Scientific and/or technological excellence; Quality and efficiency of the implementation; Potential Impact • Budget: TBC • Funding: • Level based on national rules, state aid limits • From respective national / regional funding agency
