ABB CM-UFD.M33 & ComAp MainsProSolar Protection Relay BCJ Controls
ABB CM-UFD.M33 • The ABB CM-UFD.M33 is a multifunctioning grid feeding monitoring relay. It trips the section switch that is connected between the distributed generation and the public grid allowing the distributed generation to disconnect in case of problems (e.g. unstable grid), faults, or grid maintenance. The device provides different monitoring services to detect 10-minutes average overvoltage, real time over- and under-voltage as well as over- and under-frequency. Additionally, monitoring of vector shift and ROCOF (rate of change of frequency) can be configured to trip the generation in a case of loss of mains.
ABB CM-UFD.M33 Characteristics • Monitoring of voltage and frequency in single-phase and three-phase mains (2-wire, 3-wire or 4-wire AC systems) • Over- and under-voltage, 10-minutes average value as well as over- and under-frequency monitoring • Two-level threshold settings for over-/under-voltage and over-/under-frequency • ROCOF monitoring and vector shift detection are configurable • Interrupted neutral detection • Default settings in accordance with Great Britain Engineering Recommendations G59/3 and G83/2
ABB CM-UFD.M33 Characteristics • True RMS measuring principle • All threshold values and tripping delays are adjustable • Error memory for up to 99 entries (incl. cause of error, measured value, relative timestamp) • Password setting protection • 3 control inputs (e.g. for feedback signal, remote trip) • 3 c/o (SPDT) contacts • Multiline, backlit LCD display
ABB CM-UFD.M33 Application • The ABB CM-UFD.M33 is a grid feeding monitoring relay that monitors the voltage and the frequency of the public low or medium voltage grid. Whenever measured values are not within the range of adjusted threshold values, the ABB CM-UFD.M33 causes the section switch to trip (consisting of 1 or 2 switching devices according to the applicable standard). This tripping disconnects the power generation of systems such as photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, and block-type thermal power stations from the grid. The fault is indicated by a LED and the corresponding plain text failure message is displayed.
ComAp MainsPro • The ComAp MainsPro solar protection relay is used for grid-tie applications, and provides anti-islanding protection as required by Distribution Network Service Providers for solar over 30 kW. It can be used with any embedded generator systems such as gen sets, co-generation, or renewable energy sources including photovoltaic plants or wind turbines. The ComAp MainsPro grants adjustable voltage, frequency, and loss of mains functions to safeguard the distribution network and the generators. • With ComAp MainsPro, no special knowledge is needed for the installation process and no additional units are required. This makes it an optimal solution for both untrained personnel and professionals. The unit is designed to comply completely with Utilities’ connection requirements and statutory codes, offering a high level of protection and safety when working in parallel to the mains.
ComAp MainsPro Product Features: • Flexible supply voltage and measurement range • Suited for standard DIN rail installation or door-mount • User friendly interface with easy setting (no software tools needed) • Simple wiring with removable connectors • Remote binary communication • Compact design for installation in restricted spaces
ComAp MainsPro Product Features: • Lost of Mains function and history track function (Last 5 events history log) • Integrated mechanical lock to secure your settings • Breaker failure protection • Watchdog relay output • Increased resolution of frequency protection settings • Resistance to frequency jumping
Technical Information: • True RMS measurements for more accurate, reliable evaluation of failures • Vector Shift and Rate of change of frequency protections are available in a single unit to allow for the best fit for each site • Symmetrical components allow for better detection of voltage asymmetry failures • Two stage settings of voltage and frequency safeguards cover short and long term disturbances with fitting priority • Free assignment of five relay outputs allows for a large range of signaling and trip methods • Four binary switches to remotely alter unit operation
Technical Information: • Adjustable time delay of Automatic fault reset to avoid need for personnel on-site • Universal power supply of 8 – 40 VDC, 85 – 265 VAC, and 110 – 370 VDC • Unit is independent on application due to the optional voltage range of 120/230/400 VAC with over-range to 156/290/520 VAC • Supports three-phase and one-phase applications • Last trip is recorded to provide evidence of trip cause
