RBT Training The BACB requires the student to complete the RBT 40 hour training course within a 180 day period from the start date. (This change was implemented on February 1st, 2016 and applies to all RBT Trainees by start date.)

Obtain your RBT Credential Step 1: Complete the 40-hour RBT Training Course. (Our Training!) *must be completed within 180 days of your official start date. Step 2: Set up a time with a BCBA in your area (either employer or you may find one here: http://info.bacb.com/o.php?page=100155 ) in which to do the RBT Competency Assessment: http://bacb.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/160129-RBT-competency-assessment.pdf *please note: make sure the BCBA signing off on paperwork does not abbreviate any words, as applications have been rejected paperwork due to this. Step 3: Begin to register with the BACB for the RBT Credential: http://bacb.com/rbt-application/
Step 4: You will need the following paperwork: a) Certificate of Completion (40-hour Training)b) RBT Competency Assessmentc) High School/College Diplomad) If your employer will not verify our background, you will need to order a basic Background and Sexual Abuse registry check. This should be done no more than 45 days prior to your application date. *There is a $50.00 fee paid to the BACB to process your application. Step 5: Within 24 hours, the BACB will contact your testing BCBA to ensure all paperwork and data is authorized and correct. Step 6: Within 2 weeks of your application submission, the BACB will contact you to set up a time to take the BACB’s RBT exam at a location in your area. *the exam is a $45.00 fee.
Step 7: If you successfully pass the exam and your paperwork is approved, you will receive an email with your official RBT ID number and the BACB will register you on their website. You will be RBT credentialed. Step 8: In order to remain credentialed, you will need to submit bi-monthly paperwork to the BACB. This can be signed off by your testing BCBA or an approved supervisor (whom is registered with the BACB) , and must be submitted each month. *this is how to keep your credential active. *there is an annual renewal fee of $45.00 for the RBT credential
