NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN THE FRAME OF RURAL CHANGESRegional contexts linked up with the common approach University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture Svetosimunska 25, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia www.agr.hr CASEE-Kick-offMeeting at BOKU Vienna20-21st May, 2010
Possible project elements for the common approach • common natural (environmental) problems • common demographic changes in rural areas • common European policies towards rural areas • common environmental, social and economic goals (high quality of environment, resources, products, services and overall living standard in rural areas)
Common teaching framework • Teaching area: • 1. Management of land and water resources • sustainable perspective in view of a future climate change • soils in natural and anthropogenic ecosystems • water resource planning and management • techniques of assessing and handling data related to natural resources in a development context • 2. Environmental and rural policy • regional particularities (special qualities) within the common policies • experiences between regions and nations in the service of progress policies designed for reaching the common goals
Common research framework • identifying specific and common elements of natural and rural sensitivities • land and water resource management practices (in pilot areas?) • time series analysis of land use structure (impact on landscape and production structure) • time series analysis of socio-economic impact of changed resource management (population, job diversification and sources of income, living standard changes)
