Welcome to the workshoponConfidence rating ofmarine eutrophication assessments- based on the NMR CONFIRM project 2008-2009CONFIRM workshop, 6 March 2009, Copenhagen, Denmark
Scope and partners • CONFIRM = Confidence rating of marine eutrophication assessment tools • The overall aim of CONFIRM is to develop a first generation of principles and methods for assessing the outputs of marine eutrophication assessment tools used in Nordic countries • Funded by Nordic Council of Ministers (HLG) • Partners involved: • DHI, Denmark • NIVA, Norway • FIMR/SYKE, Finland • SMHI, Sweden
CONFIRM will: • The objectives of CONFIRM are to develop a methodology for confidence rating of marine eutrophication assessments, including guidance and a tool, the later in form of a downloadable open-source program. • In addition to the methodology and programs for confidence rating, the tools will include possibilities of weighting between indicators (per category/quality element) and between categories and quality elements. • The products will include: (1) a project report including chapters on methodology, guidance on how to use the tools developed, case studies, discussion & perspectives, and conclusions & recommendation, (2) a generic tool for confidence rating, (3) an open source tool developed for confidence rating of marine eutrophication, and (4) a scientific paper.
The end is near… • The output from CONFIRM will be a short report in theTemaNord Series. • Itwillbefinalised in thecommingmonth(s). • The end-users of the results of CONFIRM are national agencies, water districts, regional marine conventions (mainly HELCOM + OSPAR) and perhaps EU (DG ENV, EEA, EMMA, ETG, etc.).
