  1. 5 Interior Design Tips For Beginners Starting with interior design can be difficult; you have to keep a creative mind and yet fix to boundaries; usually, while thinking something creative, you have to think out of the box, especially in the field of designing, but interior designing is something different. You have to keep in mind the boundaries of the place you are designing and make it the most fantastic place as it can be, now that is some challenging work. Professional interior designers do not have much trouble doing this work because they have been in the field for so long that their minds are trained to work in such a way that they make the most out of the smallest space given to them. But, being a beginner, your mind is still in the process of trying to understand what can be done to a space to make its most. While designing the interiors, you keep in mind the architecture and planning of a space to make it aesthetically pleasing and, at the same time, most usable. You can either be given to design a professional place, for example, a school or an office; or a less professional place, which can be someone’s home or even a room, by your interior design & contracting company. No matter what you are designing, there are three basic principles of design that you need to keep in mind, they are – (1) Style - While designing a place, there are many styles that you can choose from. It mainly depends on the formality of the place you have to design. For example, while designing for an office, you can think of things like more desk space, rooms for conferences, etc. On the other hand, while designing, for example, a room, you may add some funky new colours and other equipment. (2) Focal Point - Focal point is supposed to be something that attracts the viewers’ attention in the place that you have designed. It may be an astounding piece of art or something like a fireplace. Be sure not to add too many focal points as it can work the opposite way you want it to. (3) Balance -There is something known as ‘visual weight’; if you have studied interior design, you might be aware of it. It is the things in a room that attracts the viewer’s attention. You have to maintain a balance in that. For example, if you design a room, try not to keep all the attractive items in one corner of the room but rather distribute them evenly around the place. These are the three basic principles of designing. But, moving ahead, we have something more for you that would help you greatly if you have just started with interior design. Here are 5 tips that you should know if you are a beginner in interior design - (i) Spend Carefully

  2. When you have just started with interior design, it is best not to spend too much and keep a somewhat tight budget; because you never know when you will need to have some extra money. That is why you should focus more on the items that could fill the eyes of the viewer or the people about to use that space. Couches and furniture are a great place to spend money because they fill the spaces, are beneficial, and also do not make the area look empty. Once you do that, you can fill up other places with minor decoration stuff, which will not make too much budget. (ii) The Lighting No matter what you are designing, lighting plays a significant role in the ambience of any space. There can be two ways to light up a place: natural lighting and artificial lighting. The best way for natural lights are sunroofs and other open spaces covered by a glass of good quality. For artificial, you may choose floor lamps, overhead lamps, etc. Remember to give the walls a lighter colour that reflects a lot of light, not making the space dark. (iii) Accent Pieces Accent pieces play a significant role when it comes to the filling up of a room. Never forget that while you are filling a room up with the big pieces of art and furniture, there always remains space for more minor things, which are filled up by accent pieces. You can choose that from a variety of things which make the space look more aesthetic. (iv) Furniture Placement A lot of us would like to fix our furniture to the walls without leaving any gap. This, in a subtle way, makes the room look stiffer; it feels as if there is no space for the room to breathe. While placing new furniture, try to keep them a few inches apart from the walls to make it look better. (v) Don’t Make Homes a Showroom If you are currently working on a home or a room, try not making it look like the ones you see on the webpages or in shows. Homes are supposed to look comfortable and natural; adding too many showpieces and other things can make them feel like a professional workplace or a showroom, taking away the comfort. Interior designing can be so much fun, but starting with anything new like this can also be confusing at first. But once you start paying attention to the things that are mentioned here, you will find out that with every place you design, you get more ‘on the track’ with other interior designers and then, slowly, your work will feel more and more fun to you. These are some of the important things that you must keep in mind while designing a room or a home, or even an office, and they will help you immensely with your career and make your mind more creative!
