2. Paul Revere He was born in 1735 and died in 1818. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His father was silversmith.

5. Boston Massacre March 5, 1770 Fight between the colonist and British soldiers. The British fired on the crowd. 5 colonist died.

6. Boston Tea Party December 16, 1773 Revere helped plan this event. Colonist dressed up and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. British did not like this! British blocked the harbor and no other goods could come in.

7. Messenger of the Revolution He rode his horse to deliver news to the colonies. He told about plans to protest against the British.

8. Midnight Ride April 18, 1775 The Patriots knew the British were preparing to attack. British began to march toward Lexington and Concord. “One if by land, two if by sea”. Two lanterns were hung in the Old North Church. William Dawes and Revere rode their horses to warn the colonist.

9. Midnight Ride Dawes and Revere made it to Lexington. Prescott joined them later. They were stopped by the British soldiers. Dawes and Prescott escaped and were able to warn the town of Concord.

10. American Revolution April 19, 1775 (morning after the “ride”) Patriots were waiting for the British in Lexington. Patriots stood strong. A shot was fire. The battle of Lexington was the 1st battle of the American Revolution.

11. Independence 1783 (8 years later) 13 colonies were free from British rule! George Washington was elected President in 1789-1797.
