Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training 2008 was the first year the suicide rate for the Army was higher than the civilian rate. More Soldiers killed themselves in 2010 than in 2009. ASIST workshops are for both Senior Leaders and Junior Soldiers, their family members (no per diem/travel), and civilian employees in order to feel more comfortable and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Over 1,000,000 caregivers have participated in the two-day, highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training REGISTRATION You are about to join more than 1,000,000 caregivers. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the most widely used suicide intervention training program in the world. The workshop is only presented by LivingWorks certified trainers who have completed the ASIST Training for Trainers course. ASIST prepares caregivers of all backgrounds to provide emergency first-aid, life-assisting interventions to persons at risk of suicide. Intervention attitudes, knowledge, skills and resources are presented in two days of practical training, conducted in both small and large groups. ASIST is a two-day workshop designed to be provided in a positive learning environment. You are required to be present for the entire workshop to receive full credit for the training. The first class starts at 0800 and ends at 1630 hrs. You will have a one-hour lunch break. CIVILIAN CASUAL CLOTHES ARE REQUIRED.
