Romanticism • Emphasized imagination and the surreal over everyday life • Most literature written during Romantic Period was fiction • Poetry and novels most prevalent • Women authors began to emerge, though they often used pseudonyms.
A literary movement broadly defined as “the faithful representation of reality” of the 19th and 20th centuries that came about as a response to the Romantic Movement.
