MSCA –European Funding for PhD holders or experienced researchers Individual Fellowships– IF • Duration 2 years • Success rate 20% in Ireland, 14% in Europe • Very competitive salary around (circa €3,000 in your hand, more if you have family) • You can delay your starting date • You need to physically move to the country of your supervisor's institution in EU or a H2020 associated country • If you really want to have your research in Ireland there is an option for you called Global Fellowship

New immigration Policy : Rights to work for spouse of Hosting Agreement Holders • Spouses and De Facto Partners of Hosting Agreement holders no longer need to apply for a work permit if they want to work in Ireland • Your local GNIB visit with your spouses/ de facto partner who is a resident in Ireland on a Hosting Agreement – 1G stamp condition given • No charge if IRP is still valid (if due for renewal €300) • Spouses of stamp 4 holders on the basis of being a former Hosting Agreement holder – also qualify

36. Stamp 1G holders/de facto partners of Hosting Agreement holders • have rights to work on full or part time basis without a work permit • do additional voluntary work • study • travel abroad for short periods (e.g. holidays and attending conferences) and return to Ireland, subject to any re-entry visa requirements • bring immediate children to Ireland • The permission to stay in Ireland is still tied to the permission of the Hosting Agreement holder • Stamp 1G holders – are not entitled to rely on public services or claim any state benefits/funding and must hold private medical insurance • Stamp 1G period is reckonable for naturalisation/long term residence

37. Who is a de facto partner ? 38. 39. A new pre-clearance procedure for de facto partners Medical Insurance • Applicants must be covered by private medical insurance, from a company authorised by the Health Insurance Authority for the duration of your time in the State. • Travel insurance may suffice but only during the first year of your stay provided it covers you: • For the full period before you arrange private medical insurance • At a minimum of €25,000 for accident and €25,000 for illness and disease and • For any period of hospitalisation • In addition, it is advisable that applicants have insurance to cover repatriation in the event of serious illness or unforeseen events.

Re entry visa requirement abolishedfor non EEA nationals 13 May 2019 • If you are from a visa required country, and have a valid IRP card or GNIB card, you will no longer require a re-entry visa to leave and return to Ireland on or after 13 May 2019. • You will be able to show your passport and IRP or GNIB card to prove to airlines and immigration officials that you have a right to travel to Ireland.
