  3. Goals of occupational health: 1.The prevention of work- related injuries & dises 2.Health promotion in the workplace 3.Eliminate the physical, psychosocial & .....behavioral risks in the workplace

  4. **In 2007, the World Health Assembly endorsed the WHO Global Plan of Action on Workers' Health (GPA)

  5. The main objectives of the GPA are : • Strengthen the leadership function of national health systems to respond to the specific health needs of working populations • Establish basic levels of health protection at all workplaces • Improve the knowledge base for action on protecting and promoting the health of workers and establish linkages between health and work. • Stimulate incorporation of actions on workers health into other policies, such as sustainable development, poverty reduction, trade liberalization, environmental protection and employment.

  6. In 1970, **OSHA : for monitoring occupational injuries & dises & enforcing lows regarding asafe workplace. **NIOSH : for research in occupational injury & dise prevention .

  7. Occupational hazards • Work-related Dises Such as : • ,cancers, skin dises, musculoskeletal dise, respiratory dises, hearing loss, circulatory dises, stress related disorders & communicable dises and others.

  8. Skin disescause 23- 35% of occupational injuries & 34-50% of occupational dises. • Acute or chronic dises depending on the number , duration& the intensity (level) of exposure

  9. More than 2 million occupational injuries occur each yr in US, • The yearly no. of deaths from occupational injuries & dises combined about 100,000. • The yearly no. of disabilities caused by OC. Injuries & illnesses range to 400,000

  10. *الفصل الخامس الصحة المهنية * المادة (31) يحظر مزاولة أي عمل أو حرفة لها أثر على الصحة العامة أو صحة البيئة، إلا بعد الحصول على موافقة مكتوبة من الوزارة.  * المادة (32)تضع الوزارة بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية الشروط اللازمة لتوفير وسائل السلامة والصحة المهنية في أماكن العمل وآلية التفتيش المتواصل عليها. * المادة (33(لا يجوز الترخيص لأي منشأة قبل الحصول على موافقة الوزارة * المادة (34)تقوم الوزارة بالتنسيق مع الجهات المختصة بـ:- 1-تحديد الشروط الصحية الواجب توافرها في العاملين في مهن وحرف أو صناعات يمكن أن تؤثر على صحتهم. 2-تحديد أنواع الفحوصات الطبية الأولية والوقائية الدورية اللازمة للعاملين في تلك المهن أو الحرف أو الصناعات. 3-إعداد قائمة بالأمراض المهنية. * المادة (35(تتحمل كل منشأة الأولية والدورية المحددة من الوزارات التي تجري للعاملين فيها
