TO SIMPLIFY ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSIONS, COMBINE LIKE TERMS.
Order of Operations x + P E ÷ – Solving Equations
EXPRESSIONS AND EQUATIONS Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
ORDER OF OPERATIONS PARENTHESES EXPONENTS ÷ x OR + - OR
Steps for Solving Equations Combine like terms. Isolate the terms that contain the variable you wish to solve for. Isolate the variable you wish to solve for. Substitute your answer into the original equation and check that it works.
The distributive property is telling us how to deal with those parenthesis when we just have letters inside. We're going to need this a lot in Algebra! Remember that you always do what's in the parenthesis first... But, in Algebra, you may not be able to add the b and the c... So, this property tells you what to do... The Distributive Property: Where a, b and c are any real numbers. When two things are next to each other,it means multiplication! Distribute means to GIVE. When you use the distributive property, you are GIVING the number/variable on the OUTSIDE of the parenthesis to both of the number/variables on the INSIDE of the parenthesis. Giving = MULTIPLICATION (operation)
SOLVE AND GRAPH INEQUALITIES To solve inequalities, use the same steps as with equations. SYMBOLS Graph – Remember write the variable first and then the arrow goes in the direction of the inequality symbol. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/linear_inequalities/inequalities/v/inequalities-on-a-number-line
