6. Parameters Can be used in a Crystal Report formula
Must have a value before processing report
One report with many variations
Can be used to limit data retrieved
7. Prompts Guides users to select values
Different from Parameters
Prompt response is passed to Parameter
8. Dynamic Prompts and Cascading List of Values Populates the List of Values (LOVs)
Dynamic prompts change on a regular or irregular schedule
Prompts can be arranged in a cascade, where response to one prompt constrains values in subsequent list of values
9. Default Values in Prompt Parameter must have a value before the program can process the report
Default option allows the report designer to set a default value for the static list of values
10. Dynamic Prompt Dynamic prompt is a List of Values that changes
List of values becomes a separate entity that you can schedule for refresh
11. Top/Bottom N Prompt Create the parameter
Select parameters for the selected Top/Bottom N formula
Combining with a user-driven parameter to allow users to drive the value of N in a given report

13. List of Values List of Values is used with Dynamic Prompts
Create a List of Values in Crystal Reports or in Business View Manager
Data Sources for List of Values
Report fields
Command objects
Businessviews
14. Prompt ALL Returns all records for a parameterized field
If the user enters an asterisk (*) or other predefined symbol such as All then all values are returned
15. Code and Description Values (1) Codes use numeric or text strings to represent values
Create separate Code and Description fields in LOV definition
Set the value field to the parameter and the description field appears in the prompting dialog box
Description field appears in the prompting dialog box controlled by the prompt option "Prompt with Description Only"
16. Code and Description Values (2)
17. Code and Description Values (3)
18. Null Handling Null values in the data returned by the list of values are displayed as null in the drop-down list for that prompt
Select these values and any parameters associated with that prompt receive the null value
Test functionality with Crystal Reports IsNull function

20. Subreport Report within a report
Allows reports to be combined into a single report
Coordinates data that otherwise cannot be linked and present different views of the same data in a single report
Two kinds of Subreports
21. Subreport vs Report Inserted as an object into a primary report; it cannot stand on its own
Can be placed in any report section and the entire Subreport will print in that section
Cannot contain another Subreport
Does not have page header or page footer sections
22. When do I use a Subreport? Combine unrelated reports into a single report
Coordinate data that cannot otherwise be linked
Present different views of the same data within a single report
Perform one-to-many lookups from a field that is not indexed on the lookup field
23. How Subreport linking works When you link a Subreport to a primary report, the program creates the link by using a parameter field
When a Subreport link field is selected, the program creates
Parameter field in the Subreport that retrieves values passed to it by the primary report
Record selection formula for the Subreport using the parameter field
Selection formula that limits the Subreport to records where the link field is equal to the parameter field value
24. Unlinked Subreports Unlinked Subreports are free-standing
Data is not in any way coordinated with the data of the primary report
Does not rely on main report for data
Provides multiple views of the same or different data sources required in a single presentation
Reports are treated as unrelated
25. Linked Subreports Data in the main report is coordinated to the Subreport

27. Whats New? Business calendars
Schedule documents on behalf of others
Deliver specific subsets of information to each user according to their security profile
Can be applied to all documents designed from secured Universes or Businessviews
28. Scheduling Options and Parameters Scheduling an object to run automatically at specified times with the recurrence pattern that you want
For example, you select daily or weekly, and then the run option (for example, Every week on)
You then specify additional parameters to control exactly when and how often the object will be run
29. Schedule Options When
Database logon
Filters
Destination
Format
Print settings
Server group
Parameters
30. Scheduling Objects Run automatically at specified times
For end users to schedule and run objects, they must use a web-based client such as InfoView
InfoView is designed primarily to schedule objects and view reports
CMC enables you to manage and administer objects in addition to scheduling objects and viewing reports
Only reports, programs, and object packages can be scheduled
31. Publishing Publishing is the process of adding objects such as reports to the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI environment and making them available to authorized users
You can publish objects to BusinessObjects Enterprise XI in three ways:
Use the publishing wizard
Use the Central Management Console (CMC)
Save directly to your BusinessObjects Enterprise XI folders
32. Business Calendar Calendar is a customized list of dates for scheduled jobs
Users use a calendar to run the job on predefined dates
Users can create more complex processing schedules than with the standard scheduling options
Useful when running a recurring job on an irregular schedule, or if you want to provide users with sets of regular scheduling dates to choose from
Calendars also allow you to create more complex processing schedules, combining unique scheduling dates with recurring ones
33. Holiday Calendars Create a calendar with the holidays marked as non-run days, on which the report object cannot be run
BusinessObjects Enterprise XI will run the job every day you have specified as a run day in your calendar
You can set up as many calendars as you want in BusinessObjects Enterprise XI
Calendars you create appear in the calendar selection list available when you choose to schedule an object using a calendar
You can apply calendars to any object that can be scheduled, including report objects, program objects, and object packages
34. Publishing in BusinessObjects Enterprise Scheduling to different formats
Scheduling directly to email
Scheduling directly to printers
Scheduling capabilities for both Crystal reports and Web Intelligence documents
