  1. Immigration

  2. The Problem • Immigration is a problem we have been dealing with for a very long time. From 1821 to today immigration has changed a lot. As you can see from the graphs. Today it is much harder to come to the U.S.A then any other time. This is due to the fact that we have had multiple terrorist attracts much as 9-11. due to this people who want to be here, need to be here for reason either to pursuit their American dream or start a new life can no long access this opportunities as easily.

  3. Problem Immigration Causes • Economic problems • Terrorism • Drug trafficking • Fight for opportunity • Discrimination • Boycott • Stereotype

  4. Todays Immigration Policy • Naturalization process You need • 18 years of age • Have lawfully been admitted to the U.S. for permanent residence • Have resided in the U.S. continually for at least 5 years • Of good moral character • Demonstrate a belief and commitment in the constitution • Read, speak, and understand language of the English language • Take the oath of allegiance Conflicts: A lot of people come to the U.S.A however they can because the U.S.A doesn’t give out visas as much now a days so what immigrants are doing now is coming how ever they can there for the naturalization process is practically impossible because they cant achieve all requirements for the naturalization process. Examples: Visa, underage, permanent residence, 5 years in the U.S.A. just one of this will make a person ineligible for the naturalization process.

  5. What the Government Needs to do Be strict but easy Make new law that protect the U.S. yet make it reachable circumstances for immigrants. Protect the U.S. • Keep background checks • Check for criminal records • History • Show dedication to the country Make it easier • The Dream act • Give permanent residence to people who earn it, show good reasoning for being in the U.S., and good behavior so naturalization process is easier to achieve.

  6. How we can do This • Hard power tools • Military Alliances This tool would be use to protect the U.S. borders and U.S citizens. • Soft power tools • Diplomacy This tool would be use to make agreement that immigrant that come to the U.S to become citizens must be loyal, have good behavior and be here for the right reasons. • Treaties agreement This tool would be used to keep or make peace with the places were immigrants are coming from. • Trade relation This tool would be used to get something in exchange of letting people from other countries come to the U.S. • Cultural exchange This tool would be used to see were some of this immigrant come from and help them out.

  7. The Approaches • There is really a lot of ways to approach this issue. From opening for all to come to no one being able to come or anywhere in between. • The best way to approach this issue we say is by making the requirement easier yet keeping our border and U.S. citizens protected. Like shown in slide five.

  9. Our Policy • we are proposing the United States becomes open to the world • To welcome new immigrants new immigrants into our country who have useful skills and immigrants who have dreams • In addition to making this country an open world country they should pass laws such as the Dream Act which allows people with dreams to follow them and continue school without a problem, they want nothing but to come for a better education and by not passing the Dream Act we are making this impossible for people with a real future ahead of themselves

  10. World Views Our policy is shaped by isolation, because it shows we are not being greedy by allowing people from foreign countries to come which shows we are not hiding anything and being greedy by not sharing our resources and giving immigrants from other countries a chance to pursue the American Dream

  11. The UN • The UN should be involved in our plan by doing the following: • peace • Security • human rights • international laws • For the laws and being an open country with restrictions they will need to make sure they are doing their best to make sure we still have security and our rights • Letting others come here from a different country would be a way to show the other countries they have nothing against them as long as their people cause no harm this helps with peace and international laws.

  12. Those who need to be influenced People who need to be influenced would be Government UN people against positive immigration acts being passed The government and the UN need to be influenced in order to help us create the acts that help people who would help this country and its economy get better. People against immigration need to be influenced to be pro immigration because these people make the country a better place what happened to being “the land of the free” if people who want to peruse their dreams cant even come here for a better opportunity.

  13. Do we believe we can do it…
