Key Messages • QSA was very involved in development of AC and the content is very similar • Professional conversations are key to developing how we implement AC content – the what • Elaborations should be considered in planning • Prep teachers need to know the curriculum below and above Prep • QSA and AC provide many resources

  3. READING What does English look like? “ read predictable texts” Look at the definition for these texts. Reading and discuss Brown Bear, Brown Bear as a sample text. List and discuss other predictable texts. Identify suitable teaching and learning activities.

  4. WRITING What does it look like? Create short texts to explore, record and report ideas and events Look at sample text and task from AC Prep (F) English Discuss aspects of writing and compare with Prep writing samples Discuss development / strategies across the year

  5. Recognising our Current Practices • Mapping of prep English Curriculum • Identifying strengths, gaps and strategies (see mapping document)

  6. Planning around Achievement Standards Identifying practices that support achievement in: • Reading • Writing • Speaking and listening

  7. Implications • What are the implications for our Prep planning? • What might we achieve by working together?
