Main objectives of a semantic portal • Provide high-school teachers (life sciences domain) with an application to select content for preparing a course • 30% of CSI visitors are from education (17 000 teachers and 500 000 pupils visit CSI each year) • enable teachers to search for content using criteria like • the grade level of classroom, topics in the official program, concepts of life-sciences itself, topical events from daily news • Explore new types of scientific mediation • manually/automatically classified information/internet access • integrated and homogeneous description of our contents The MESMUSES portal of La Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie

First results • With MESMUSES Portal, at this step • application to a thematic domain (to be extended to the whole offre de la Cité) • evaluation with real users is ongoing (teachers to test and evaluate the portal) • first test of an automatic categorisation (GammaSite) • Tracks for improvements • high level user interface adapted to different user profiles (e.g. teachers/pupils) • individual browsing through itineraries • seamlessly integration with automatic categorisation (e.g. conceptual schema/taxonomy) The MESMUSES portal of La Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie
