  2. Activity instructions Step1 Part one – create a mini-lesson on a scientific principle. Watch the assigned bar trick video. Stand in stunned silence for an appropriate amount of time. Write a short outline that summarizes the principle and explains how the trick demonstrates the principle. Write a two question multiple choice quiz about your principle/trick. Read and discuss the passage about the principle that explains the science behind the trick. Use the given supplies to do the trick. Discuss how it connects to the principle. Give the trick a clever name. Step2 Step3 Step 4 Step5

  3. Activity instructions continued… • Part two – jigsaw time! Classroom tip 1: Students can switch off between presenting and visiting other groups. • Two team members stay back to present your mini-lesson. • Wait for an audience. • Demo the trick. • Explain the principle. • Give the quiz. • The rest of the team splits up to visit other groups. • Observe the trick. • Take notes/ask questions. • Take the quiz. Classroom tip 2: Have students complete notes and quizzes from the different groups on graphic organizers to help ensure that students stay on task.
