  14. NATIONAL HORTICULTURE MISSION – TAMIL NADU • MAJOR ISSUES • Cost of Planting material for flowers like Anthuriums is huge (Rs.40 lakhs per acre). One time 50 % subsidy may be given to such high value crops. • Freight subsidy may be given for domestic markets beyond 1000 Kms as in the case of exports. • Without assured irrigation, sustainable Horticulture is impossible. Creation of Water Sources should include all type of water sources (Guideline 8.17). • SLECs may delegated with financial powers up to Rs. 10 lakhs. • Once AAP has been approved by the EC comprehensive, and not component wise, administrative and financial sanction may be granted. • Guidelines and Terms and Conditions for engaging consultants may be evolved and circulated to the States.
