  2. Consecrated Stewards • Focuses on the biblical principle of grace-motivated giving, not on church budget shortfalls. • Urges Christian stewards to take a step forward in faith in light of God’s grace. • Raises people to a new level of spiritual commitment and annual giving.

  3. Why it Works • Is founded on solid, biblical principles reinforced in materials and activities. • It is easy to implement and organize. • It provides a trained Guest Leader to keep the process on track, maintain the biblical focus, and avoid expensive shortcuts.

  4. Key Elements in Consecrated Stewards • Publicity resources for reaching every member. • Role-specific instructional material for each Consecrated Stewards committee member. • Four weeks of Bible study and stewardship sermons, including a special Bible study led by the Guest Leader. • Stewardship witness talks in which members of the congregation share their stewardship journeys.

  5. Key Elements in Consecrated Stewards • Celebrations of ministry—weekly celebrations of ministries within the congregation. • Leaders’ luncheon to inspire your leaders’ growth and commitment. • “Consecration Sunday” worship and luncheon—commitment takes places as an act of worship. • “First Offering Sunday” Celebration—celebrates the results of the emphasis and encourages people to begin their journey on a certain day.

  6. Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Centennial, Colorado implemented Consecrated Stewards in September of 2008. I am thankful to be able to share that our worship attendance, Bible study participation, volunteerism, and commitment of our congregational leadership increased substantially in the last year and continues to grow. I guess I should also mention that in a year of the worst economic climate in many years Shepherd exceeded her budgeted needs while raising over $900,000 of a $1.25 million dollar goal in less than the first half of a three year capital campaign. -- Rev. Dr. Bradley Stoltenow
