Watching, Waiting, Wondering Once there lived three kings in the East. They were wise men because they watched carefully. They watched endlessly and wondered about everything.
They watched the movements of the sun, the moon and the stars, they watched the changes in the weather and the ways of the animals. They looked deep into their own hearts to watch what was happening inside themselves.
As they waited, they wondered. ‘There is a new star in the sky tonight,’ said Caspar. ‘We see that,’ said Melchior and Balthasaar. They watched, they wondered.
‘I wonder why there is a new star in the sky?’ said Caspar. ‘I’m wondering the same thing,’ said Melchior. ‘I wonder if it is a sign?’ said Balthasaar.
‘Why are we waiting?’ asked Balthasaar. ‘Because we are wondering,’ said Caspar. ‘Waiting and wondering go well together,’ said Melchior.
‘Look!, the star is moving,’ said Caspar. They watched, they waited, they wondered.
‘Should we follow the star,? asked Caspar. ‘Yes,’ said Melchior, we’ll follow this star wherever it goes.’ They saddled their camels and set off on their journey. ‘Ready...’ said Caspar. ‘Steady..’ said Melchior. ‘Go!’ said Balthasaar.
