Alive-O 3Term 1: Lesson 15The Moment They’d All Been Waiting For
The Moment They’d All Been Waiting For Caesar Augustus was a Roman Emperor. He was in charge. One day he decided that he wanted to count the people and see how many he was in charge of. Everyone had to go to the town their ancestors had come from.
When Mary and Joseph heard this, they realised that they would have to go to Bethlehem where king David had lived. They would have to travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem.
Mary was going to have a baby. She wondered If she would have her baby before they came back from Bethlehem. She knew that her baby would be born very soon.
When Mary and Joseph arrived in the city they went to sign their names in the special book. Someone in the queue said that some day a leader would be born from among their family. This leader would be one who would treat people fairly.
Mary and Joseph then moved on to look for some place to stay. The only place they could find was a cave in the hillside.
The shepherds were minding their sheep on the hills. They gathered their sheep together safely for the night. They were wondering when the new leader would be born.
One of the shepherds, Rueben said, ‘how will we know when the leader has come?’ Isaac said, ‘there will be a sign. We don’t know what kind of sign we will be given, but there will be a sign.’
Mary and Joseph settled into the cave in time for the new baby to be born. The moment Mary and Joseph had been waiting for had arrived. The baby was born.
At that very moment the sky was filled with the sounds of angels singing Glory to God in the highest, hosanna to our God. ‘Go and see the new baby,’ said the angels to the shepherds.
Just then the three wise kings mounted their camels and followed the star which led them to the cave where the baby Jesus lay in the manger.
Mary welcomed the shepherds and the kings into the cave. She showed them the new baby. ‘This is the moment we have all been waiting for!’
