  2. Deriving Key Signatures from scales 1. Open Tetrachords.mus 2. Scroll down or over to the 12 tetrachordsyou constructed. You have also bracketed sets of two tetrachords that mark off the 12 major scales. 3. Choose one of those 8-tone brackets marking a major scale. Name its bottom tone. That is its key or tonal center. Name the sharps or flats as you go up the scale. Put those accidentals in the standard key signature order. That is the scale’s key signature. Standard order of sharps and flats: F# C# G# D# A# E# B# Bb EbAbDb Gb CbFb
