Candle Makers (Craftsmen) • An candle maker named Graham Overhill who lived in the 11th century is said to have invented a candle - clock. A candle was made with 12 lines on it and when lit at the top of the hour, the candle would burn from line to line, and each line was equal to an hour. Presto! A 12 hour clock!
