  1. Resource WG Summary Mason Katz, Yoshio Tanaka

  2. Next generation resources on PRAGMA • Status • Next generation resource (VM-based) in PRAGMA by UCSD (proof of concept almost done). • Next steps • CRAYON will be replaced by VM-based Rocks by PRAGMA18. (by next Jan) • Mason • Upgrade Gfarm to to 2.3.0 • Increase storage in SDSC. • Cindy • NCHC creates a VM for WebOS and run on VC at UCSD (by Feb.) • Weicheng, Phil and Mason will visit Taichung in February. • Create VM for applications. • Start with AvianFlu. • Not a cluster but a single node system which automatically joins AvianFlu Grid. • Issues: Automatic generation of host cert., etc. • Document the processes • Wilfred

  3. GEO+Resource breakout • Requirements for Tsukuba-GAMA • MyProxy CA, MyProxy Repository, Web server • Gridsphere • Can be installed on a single server • Installation on CentOS 5 must be easy. • AIST will complete development and distribute (by SC09) • San Diego will host Tsukuba-GAMA • Cindy will be the CA (Tsukuba-GAMA) operator • Run this on VM • Procedure • Yoshio and Ryosuke will summarize procedure for issuing certificates. • Draft CP/CPS (By Dec.) • Timeline • Everything by PRAGMA 18

  4. Resource Breakout • Today– Future • What is next • Virtualization • Tomorrow – Present and Planning • VOMS sessions • New work for existing application drivers • Globus • GT5 end of 2009 • GT 5.2 Q1 2010 will include an RPM-based release

  5. Are there missing pieces? If yes, what are they? • Long term • Consider how VO-like security will be implemented on Cloud. • What are requirements for applications? • Step by step • 1st step does not support Virtual Cluster Grid • 2nd will support • What are missing pieces?

  6. Next generation resources on PRAGMA • tangible next steps • Next generation resource in PRAGMA by UCSD (proof of concept almost done). • VM-based • CRAYON will be replaced by VM-based Rocks by PRAGMA18. • Can we take application drivers? • Start with AvianFlu. • Not a cluster but a single node system which automatically joins AvianFlu Grid. • Issues: Automatic generation of host cert., etc. • Document the processes • Wilfred

  7. Next generation resources on PRAGMA • tangible next steps • Next generation resource in PRAGMA by UCSD (proof of concept almost done). • VM-based • CRAYON will be replaced by VM-based Rocks by PRAGMA18. (by next Jan) • Upgrade Gfarm to to 2.3.0 • NCHC creates a VM for WebOS and run on VC at UCSD (by Feb.) • Phil and Mason will visit Taiwan in February. • Can we take application drivers? • Start with AvianFlu. • Document the processes • Run them in different hosting environment • built VM of libraries • Build geographically distributed virtual clusters • Networking, scheduling are the issues • products useful to others • who will contribute • Timeline • be realistic • identity opportunities to work together at PRAGMA 18

  8. GEO+Resource breakout • Current status: • PRAGMA VO is running and GEO Grid group is in it. Ryosuke is a Group admin and responsible for management of the group members. • Future plan: • GEO would like to deploy Tsukuba-GAMA which manages user's credential (e.g. accounts, certificates, etc.). • It is expected to be used by PRAGMA members as well as non-PRAGMA • members such as GLEON and CREON. • Issues to be discussed: • Which site is appropriate to install/host Tsukuba-GAMA server for this purpose? SDSC or AIST? • Who will manage Tsukuba-GAMA? • What should be the appropriate procedure for issuing certificate? • We expect to give a demo at PRAGMA 18.

  9. GEO+Resource breakout • Requirements for Tsukuba-GAMA • MyProxy CA, MyProxy Repository, Web server • Gridsphere • Can be installed on a single server • Installation on CentOS 5 must be easy. • AIST will complete development and distribute • San Diego will host Tsukuba-GAMA • Cindy will be the CA (Tsukuba-GAMA) operator • Run this on VM • Procedure • Yoshio and Ryosuke will summarize procedure for issuing certificates. • Draft CP/CPS • Timeline • Demo at PRAGMA 18
