Course Description: U714 • Course Name: International Competitive Strategy • Case course with text chapters • Students • 30-45 students per section • Students widely dispersed • Mix of corporate, public, and partnerships • Most working full-time • Structure • 8 modules with Text Chapter, 1 Reading, and 1 Case • Weekly write-ups, 2 (1 over chapter and 1 case) • Mid-term and Final Exam, Essay and Open Book • Breeze/Connect for Class Participation

General Approach • Upload materials 2 weeks in advance of course start • User-friendly course structure • Clear Directions and FAQ files • Feedback from class on Breeze times and topics • Model answers from the class for guidance • Opportunity to work ahead • Flexible assignment approach • 5/8 write-ups (chapters and readings) • 2/8 Breeze sessions • 2 separate Breeze times (Weeknight and Saturday AM) • Deal with problem issues directly and sooner vs. later • Streaming videos to enhance cases or for discussion

Why/how I Use the Technologies • Video and voice qualities tend to bridge distances and make the interaction more personal • To share PowerPoint and video content • To create a sense of community • To bring in expert speakers without travel costs • Chat (typing by students to manage the discussion) • Polls (to get instant votes on a topic for discussion) • To enhance, not replace, the traditional instructor role • To record session for those not attending (Connect)
