Prompt As many inner city schools begin to deteriorate, the government has approved a policy to grant those struggling in poverty and discrimination a free or reduced college education. This policy is titled Affirmative Action. Many supporters agree on Affirmative Action because it allows talented minority teenagers a higher acceptance into top ranked colleges. The opposition states that Affirmative Action is wrong because it gives those of different race an edge in obtaining admission into college. Carefully read the following seven sources. Then synthesize information from the sources and incorporate it into a coherent, well-developed essay that defends, challenges, or qualifies the claim that Affirmative Action is a fair policy within the American Educational System. Make sure that your argument is central; use the sources to illustrate and support your reasoning. Avoid merely summarizing the sources. Indicate clearly which sources you are driving from, whether through direct quotation, paraphrase, summary. You may cite the sources as Source A, Source B, etc., or by using the descriptions in parentheses. Source A (Ogletree) Source B (Sacks & Theil) Source C (Huber) Source D (Associated Press)
