Twice in a Lifetime Experience the wonder of one of the rarest events in astronomy!! Montgomery College, Takoma Park Campus Roof of the Parking Garage at Fenton and King Street Tuesday June 8th, 6 – 7:26am On June 8th 2004, at sunrise, the planet Venus will be seen in front of the sun for the first time since 1882. This historic transit, first viewed in 1639, allowed astronomers to finally gage the distance to the sun and from there, the size of the solar system. Don’t miss this incredible event - the next two transits are in 2012 and 2117! To learn more, visit NASA’s website and sign up to be one of the millions who will be able to tell their children and grand children, “I saw the Venus Transit!”. http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/Departments/planet http://sunearthday.nasa.gov Lou Mayo astronomertogo@verizon.net and Harold Williams
