Main highlights of the program • Hands-on experience in a research laboratory • Engagement with leading researchers in engineering • Participation in seminars on emerging technologies and professional development • Opportunities to enhance delivery of science and engineering education at your school or community college • Development of novel educational math and classroom modules for students
RET Program: Objectives • Develop a community of researchers • Synergism among teachers and university researchers • Development of a hands-on laboratory research • A learning approach characterized by “doing”, analyzing, comparing, and presenting • In contrast to classical approach of learning mainly from textbooks • Improvement in motivation to learn and to teach
Overview of RET Program • Who is involved? • K-14 Teachers • University professors • Undergraduate and graduate students • School administrators (principals, directors, HR) Andreas Linninger, PhD RET Director, UIC site
