Early life • Born on March 9th, 1922 in Asheville, North Carolina • he first attended North Carolina Central University for a bachelors degree • First black person to attend North Carolina Law School
Career • Civil rights leader, lawyer, business executive • Did many cases on civil rights in courts • Part of legal counsel for CORE (Congress of Racial Equality) • Became national chairman of CORE (1966)
Accomplishments • Helped create Soul City, in rural North Carolina • Became pastor of the first Baptist Church in Soul City • Died April 28th, 1991
Importance Floyd McKissick was important because of the things he accomplished. He is mostly known as the first black man to attend North Carolina Law School and for his work with civil rights.
