  3. SDTF Purpose • To develop spray drift data required to fulfill data call-in requirements from the USEPA. • Help formulate label language regarding application methods to reduce spray drift. • Provide educational opportunities to develop best management practices which reduce spray drift.

  5. Purposes of the Coalition • Develop a national educational program that will bring about the desired behavior from applicators and other decision makers and thus, manage and minimize off-target drift of fertilizer and chemicals.

Major Accomplishments to Date • Pulled stakeholders together and formed coalition. • Reviewed findings of Spray Drift Task Force? • AAPCO regulatory survey. • Coalition educational survey. • Developed vision of “ideal” behavioral goals. • Developed definitions for drift and buffer zone. • Developed suggested national curriculum for spray drift component in all educational programs. • Completed Video

  14. Current Projects: • Distribution of drift education video • Release of two slide sets via the www • Summarizing a second regulatory profile • Accumulating technological information • Developing an evaluation tool to determine the success of coalition efforts

Proposed Actions for a Nationwide Program • Develop a basic video presentation to acquaint growers with drift fundamentals. • Develop video of spray table to visually demonstrate drift. • Develop materials for site-specific applicator technology. • Develop guidelines, booklets, carry-home materials. • Begin development of “smart systems” computer model.
