Meet the Teacher • Ms. White • I grew up in Boonville, N.C. • I received my Associates Degree from Surry Community College and was the catcher for their softball team while I attended. • I received my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. • I completed my student teaching at Harmony Elementary School in 2nd and 5th grade. • I have 1 year of teaching experience in 5th and 6th grade at Boonville Elementary School. • My favorite color is purple. • My hobbies are painting, going to concerts, reading, and bargain shopping.

  3. FORMS Please complete your packet of forms and send to school with your child on Monday. Included Forms: Transportation, Medication, Student Information, Free and Reduced Lunch, Health History, and Technology Use ALL forms are important and must be turned in as soon as possible!

Schedule • 7:45- Arrival (Students go to Cafeteria if they arrive early) • 8:05-Announcements & Breakfast (It’s FREE for EVERYONE!) • 8:10- CORE/Intervention Time • 8:30-Letterland • 9:00- Literacy Block-Daily 5, Guided Reading, Writing • 9:55- Intervention and Enrichment • 10:35- Literacy Continued • 11:15- LUNCH ($2.45) • 11:40- Calendar • 12:00- ENCORE-Music, Computers, PE, Art, Media, PE (6 day rotation) • 12:40- Recess • 1:00- Math Block-EngageNY • 2:20- Science/Social Studies • 2:50- Pack up • 3:00- Dismissal

  8. Planners • Planners will be our means of daily communication. Check them DAILY! • Homework • Reading Log • Notes • Behavior • Money (Label ALL $)

Homework • READING • Reading Log- Write title of each book in Planner and initial • ONCE A WEEK- guide children in writing answers to the open response questions found in the front of the homework notebook based on ONE book you read from the week • MONTHLY Reading Log Goal- 10 Books- Move their superhero for reward • SPELLING & SIGHT WORDS • Spelling words will be correlated to our weekly phonics instruction (Letterland) • MATH • Look for a math worksheet as daily practice of skills taught • *HOMEWORK DISSCLAIMER-It is subject to change at any time but • instructions will be sent home!

  11. Behavior • Clip Up-Clip Down • Check their planners and initial DAILY that you saw their color • Every day on PINK= Jewel and Candy • 5 Jewels = Hall of Fame & Prize Box • No worries unless Yellow, Orange, or RED • Look for note, email, or phone call if on RED

  12. Field Trips • Alice in Wonderland, October 30th • Play at Wilkes Community College • Tour the campus • Greensboro Science Center • Spring Field Trip • $15 • Astoria Horse Farm • Spring Field Trip

  13. Let’s Party! Everyone needs to be celebrated and we encourage you to celebrate your child on their birthday! If you would like to share a small snack with the class on or near your child’s special day, call, email, or write a note so we can make a plan…please, no surprises! Parties will always be held after lunch and probably as close to the end of the day as we can. Instructional time is precious! We will also be having class celebrations throughout the year that we will need volunteers to either come help or send in supplies. Please sign up if you can help!
