Need for A More Comprehensive Study • Guideline 8 only includes students: • Who enter the University in fall semester • As degree-seeking students • Because many students initially enter as non-degree students across all three semesters, the need for a more comprehensive study was identified Old Dominion University

4. New Transfer Study Design • Included all students with prior VCCS courses transferred to Old Dominion • Enrolled at ODU for the first-time between 1990-91 and 2000-01 • Had VCCS degree or most transfers hours from a VCCS institution Old Dominion University

Definitions • Main VCCS institution - campus from which the highest number of transfer hours taken and/or from which the student earned an associate’s degree • Students starting at ODU, who later transferred VCCS courses were eliminated from the analysis • VCCS degrees awarded were obtained from the VCCS Research office Old Dominion University
