Why were Romans so much in favor of the Republic? Did not want a single ruler to have ALL of the Power. Why did we set up our government the way we did?
How was the Republic of Rome structured? Originally had a Senate and two Consuls. Later add the positions of Tribune, Quaestor, Praetor, Aedile, Dictator, and Censor
Why did plebeians want more power and how did they achieve it? Representation? Influence in Government? Wealth?
Characterize the Roman society in the following Chart. Family Women The family was the basic unit of Roman society. Male was head of household and had absolute authority. Women gained greater freedom and influence over the centuries. Some women ran businesses. Most worked at home, raising families. Education Religion Both girls and boys learned to read and write. Education was highly valued. Gods and goddesses resembled those of Greeks. Religious festivals inspired sense of community. Romans built many temples for worship.
What are 4 Reasons why Rome’s expansion was successful? • Skilled Diplomacy • Well trained Army • Fair treatment of defeated enemies • Gave rights to conquered people
