Learning Outcomes At the end of the session students will be able to: • State the standard radio terms • Recite the phonetic alphabet • State the codes for confidential messages • Describe the content of an informative message • List the sequence of messages.
Call signs Every appliance and officer in the brigade has a call sign eg. Chief Fire Officer - Hotel 01.

Points to remember • The incident commander always originates the message • Messages must be sent at dictation speed • Abbreviations must not be used • Remember clearness of speech • Incident commander must be informed after message has been sent and acknowledged.
