Evangelism #7 Essential Doctrine that serves to inform the Soul Winner
Evangelism #7 The character of God Biblical truth: God is the just and gracious Creator of all things. Biblical response: - We must realize that we belong to Him, - are accountable to Him, - and are created to glorify Him. Isaiah 43: 6 I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7 everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.” (Also; Romans 1:18-20, 2:1-16, 3:22-24)
Evangelism #7 The sinfulness of man Biblical truth: We are each created by God, but we are all corrupted by sin. Biblical response: Admit areas of rebellion, be honest with God about sin, and turn from it. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Also; Romans 1:21-25, 3:9-20, 3:23)
Evangelism #7 The sufficiency of Christ Biblical truth: Jesus Christ alone is able to remove our sin and reconcile us to God through His death. He alone satisfies the wrath of God for our sins. Biblical response: Recognize that people are helpless to be reconciled with God apart from Jesus Christ. Romans 3:21-26 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. 26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus. (Also; Romans 4:25, 5:6-10, 5:18, 8:1-4)
Evangelism #7 The necessity of faith Biblical truth: We are reconciled to God only through faith in Jesus. There is nothing we can do to become right with God. Biblical response: Faith that leads to salvation involves turning from sin and self-sufficiency. We turn to Jesus and trust in Him as Lord, confess Him as Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9-13 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Also; Romans 1:17, 3:20-31, 4:22-25, 6:11-14, 8:10-11)
Evangelism #7 The need to call upon God through Christ Biblical truth: Our eternal destiny is dependent on our response to Jesus. Biblical response: Cry out to God to save you of your sins, put your faith in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Savior and Lord. John 10:27-30 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” (Also; John 3:14-16, 36, 17:3, 1 Timothy 1:16-17, Hebrews 9:12, 1 John 5:11-13)
