Itinerary: Wednesday, April 28, 2010 6:30 am: Arrive at HKMS 7:00 am: Depart HKMS 12:00 pm: Stop at rest stop for LUNCH $ 3:00 pm: Arrive in VA. 3:00 pm: Check in Hyatt Dulles 4:00 pm: Depart 4:15 pm: Visit Smithsonian Air and Space Museum (VA) 6:30 pm: Dinner at Fashion Center Mall in Pentagon City 7:30 pm: Jefferson Memorial, World War II Memorial, Air Force Memorial 9:30 pm: Return to Hotel
Day 2: Thursday, April 29, 2010 6:30-7:15 am: Breakfast in hotel 7:30 am: Depart hotel for Arlington Cemetery 10:30am: Depart Arlington for Smithsonian Institute 10:45-11:45: Visit Museum and LUNCH $Smithsonian 11:45 am: Depart for Holocaust Museum 12-2:15 pm: Holocaust Museum in groups of 45 2:15 pm: Depart for Museum of Natural History 2:30-4:30pm: Museum of Natural History 4:30pm: Depart for Pentagon City Shopping Mall 5-6:30 pm: Dinner at Pentagon City Shopping Mall 6:30pm: Depart for Memorials 7-9:30pm: Visit Vietnam, Lincoln, Marine Corps, FDR Memorials 9:30 pm: Depart for Hotel
Day 3: Friday, April 30, 2010 6:30-7:15 am: Breakfast in hotel 7:30 am: Depart for Capitol Hill, Library of Congress, Supreme Court 1pm : Depart for Union Station 1:15 pm: LUNCH$at Union Station 2 pm: Depart for home 6pm: DINNER $ en route 9-10pm: Arrival at HKMS
Expectations: • Student travelers will: • Follow instructions from all chaperones and tour guides • Check in with chaperones on a frequent basis • Pay close attention during attendance/roll call • Take care of each other • Never go anywhere alone – Buddy System at all times • Stay with their groups when directed to do so • Be appropriate on the bus, in the hotel, and on tour • Be polite • Learn while having a memorable experience
Clothing: • Yes… • Jackets/Rain Gear • Layers • Comfortable Clothes • Shirts with sleeves • Shorts (appropriate) • Hats (must be taken off at appropriate times) Dress should be a balance between comfort and acceptable attire

What to Bring: • Yes… • Personal Music Player/MP3 with headphones • Books/Magazines • Handheld Video Games • Snacks for bus and hotel (No Glass or Cans) • Cards/Games • Small cooler for bus • DVDs for bus (G, PG, PG-13) • Camera • Money for 4 meals and souvenirs (50$)
What Not To Bring: • No… • Illegal substances based on HKMS code of conduct • Dangerous/harmful objects (Swiss Army knife, scissors, etc.) • Video Games or DVD players that connect to TV • Expensive jewelry, cameras, electronics
Luggage/Bags: • One bag under the bus with clothing – there will be no access until we arrive at the hotel. • Carry-on for the bus with snacks and entertainment (small enough to fit in overhead compartment) • No backpacks or large bags carried during the day. • Parents are urged to check all luggage prior to departure.
Medication • Health Form • Individual letter outlining your child’s medical needs • Registered Nurse on trip • No student may carry his/her meds, including over-the-counter medication (Advil, Tylenol, etc.) • No student may give any medication to another student
Communication: • Cell Phones: • Off and put away! • Chaperones should never see the phones • Phones will be taken when used inappropriately • Examples of inappropriate use: • Talking/Texting while on bus • Talking/Texting while on tour • Talking/Texting while at dinner • Taking Pictures/Video • Examples of acceptable use: • Emergency situations • To call parents from the hotel • To call parents about arrival time on • Friday night
