  1. OPERATION 800 PROGRESS REPORT November 12, 2012

  2. Intensive Academic Support (AS) • A revamped AS program has been developed with widespread faculty input. • Teacher recommendations have been received of sts for AS • An assembly is occurring Wednesday with students to explain the expectations for AS to them further • New classes start 26 November (classes have been going on since August)

  3. Interim Assessments • See separate handout from Dara re: assessment results from first quarter • Teachers all reflected upon their data and are developing action plans • We are celebrating teachers with the best performance • Dara and Mark are meeting with teachers individually • Classroom observations continue • We will look at data at second interim assessment and consider growth, etc.

  4. SPED Student Performance • IEPs are being updated as necessary • After school Executive Functioning classes are being offered five days a week • SPED students are in separate AS classes • Case managers are working on assessing the extent to which goals for IEPs have been met through first quarter

  5. Attendance Rate Improvement • Currently 93.9%, up 0.6% average from last year • We have celebrated those with perfect attendance twice already • Attendance review boards are being held • Need to do more with the 20-25 students with the worst attendance • Alternatives to suspension are being used, but need to be used more extensively

  6. Student Retention • Honors program has begun in middle school • Athletics program continues to strengthen • Exit interview process data needs to be more formalized • Need a more formal system to ID early on those sts considering leaving OMI and target them for intervention

  7. Maximize Military’s Role • Superintendent has done an initial expectations counseling of Commandant and one follow up “progress monitoring” counseling • BG Gabrielli, LTC Anderson, MAJ Flores, and Supt have met to problem solve some elements of the operation

  8. Last Two elements… #7 – Board level strategic planning (being addressed in part at this meeting) #8 – Added by parents: Increase parental involvement • Parent expectations drafted • PAC getting organized and already implemented some good communication protocols
