Insulated Wall Panel & Roof Panel Solutions • Not addressed specifically in ASHRAE • Continuous Insulated Solution – substitute for rigid board requirements • Tested values, installed = tested values
Architectural Market • Form leads function – aesthetics driven by Architect and Designers. • Sellers advertise and promote to get spec. • Manufacturers provide design & detailing • Centria largest • Benchmark #2 • Kingspan in Europe, growing in U.S. w/acquisition of Metecno (Alumashield, Benchmark, API)
Architectural Market • Products • Horizontal & Vertical • Flat Exterior • 22 & 24 ga. Exterior (necessary - oil canning) • 24”, 30”, 36” wide • Thickness – 2”, 2.5”, 3”, 4” • Due to flatness requirements, Architectural panels are often produced on discontinuous or hybrid lines.
Commercial/Industrial Markets • Function leads form • Product decisions driven by owners & contractors w/some Architect involvement • Growth potential huge – ASHRAE, GREEN • Big Box Retail, Car Dealerships, Mfg. Plants, Warehouses, etc. • Sellers promote and sell to Cont. & Bldrs. • Manufacturers minimal design & detailing • Competitive – 26 ga Exterior skin • Planking profile • Striated profile • Heavy Embossed profile
Commercial/Industrial Market • Products • Vertical (some can be used horizontal) • Striated, Heavy Embossed, Mesa, Planked • 26 ga Exterior • 36”, 40”, 42” wide • Thickness – 2”, 2.5”, 3”, 4”, 5”, 6” • Largest Mfgs. in North American Com/Ind Mkt. • Metl Span • Kingspan • Alumashield • API
Cold Storage Market • Niche Commercial & Industrial • Driven by owners & contractors • ~20 Specialized Cont. = 80% of U.S. • Products • Vertical • Mesa or Planked • 26 ga Exterior • 42” wide • Thicknesses 4”, 5”, 6”
Trends - Economy vs Aesthetics • Use of traditional profiles to minimize oil canning (Plank, Mesa) • Owners & Arch. push for flat – Deep embossed up to 42” wide. Factory SP & Kynar or Polyester for field coating. • Natural Stucco look is driving light embossed 22 ga and factory spray coatings. • Mfgs. offering factory coating are Centria, Kingspan, Metl Span, API, IPS, Vic West • Tex Cote – field coating applied to 26 ga Poly. • Masonry and Other material • Consistent color and blend with other Arch. Features • Growing rapidly in California
Roofs • U.S. and Canadian product development has focused on walls vs roofs • Metl Span is exception (past 5 yrs. SSR) • All Weather, CR2 – for (1/4:12) roofs • All Weather, HR5 similar to Kingspan, Vic West & API roof profiles.
Product line focus for NBG • Wall Systems primarily. • CFR w/Simple Saver or Rigid board • Commercial / Industrial Market & Supplier • Secondary market - Cold Storage • Align with quality suppliers, • All Weather, Vacaville California • Vic West, Oakville Ontario • OEM, Cost • Offer short product line w/ Kynar Colors and Polyester for field coating • Detailing by NBS plants • Trims produced by NBS plants
